About us... the basics

Well, here we are.  Ben and Becky are searching for a baby to join our family, to love, and to care for.  If you are pregnant, thinking about adoption, or searching for adoptive parents for your unborn or young child, we are happy you are here.  This blog is intended to help you get to know us and see if we'd be a good fit for your baby.

First, let me tell you a bit about us:

Ben is 34 and Becky is 31.  We have been married for six happy years, and live in beautiful, rural southwestern Wisconsin.  We have lived here for six years and can think of nowhere better to raise a family.  This region is known as the "Driftless Region" because of it's beautiful valleys and bluffs.  We live right along the Kickapoo River and just a few miles from the Mississippi river.  In fact, we love it here so much that we built our new home here in 2012.  It's a beautiful house, perfect for us and our future family, located on the middle of a hill with a perfect view of the valley.  From the front porch we can see the new neighborhood park and a small handful of neighbors. From the back deck we overlook the entire valley and it's beautiful sunsets!

We love to travel and have visited some amazing places like Ireland, Italy, Nepal, Mexico, and Germany.  When we are lucky enough to start our family, we hope to bring our future children on trips like this so they can experience the world and it's many treasures.  Another thing we love to do together is cook.  Whether it's grilling steaks on the deck, baking a loaf of fresh bread and enjoying it with our homemade strawberry jam, or even making big batches of marinara sauce, a lot of time is spent together in our large kitchen.  This year we even learned how to make homemade mustard and homemade soap!  We greatly enjoy learning new things and can't wait to experience so many new things through the eyes of a child.

Even though we live within the town limits, we have a chicken coop with four chickens, and a garden.  Have you ever tried a fresh egg or freshly picked veggies?  They are so delicious!  Healthy eating is important to us, and we try to eat local and organic whenever possible.

Some other things we do for fun are camping, inviting friends over for dinner or the weekend, and visiting family.  We love to go on random adventures where we pick a location and enjoy our day trying something new.  One time we ended up at an amethyst mine (and went home with some great souvenirs!).  Another time we spent the day walking through historic Galena, Illinois.

You may wonder why we're hoping to adopt? Well, we have been trying to start a family for 4 years.  We've had six unexplained pregnancy losses and all testing has come back showing us to be completely healthy.  We have a lot of love to share with a child, and have decided that adoption is a great fit for us.

Meet Shasta, our little 7 pound dog.  She loves to cuddle and give puppy kisses by licking your hands.
