Becky has owned a photography business for over five years. She started this business to allow her to work from home with our future children, but after several years without children, she went back to work in the non-profit sector. Right now she's the executive director of a small non-profit that revitalizes a city's historic downtown. Her non-profit work is four days a week, then she usually spends a day working from home on her photography business.
Ben is self-employed in the field of product development for hand tools. He is very technical and engineer-minded, and invents hand tools! Previously, Ben worked as a financial advisor and also as a machinist at his own machining business. He works from home and has a flexible schedule, which we both love. It gives him time to play with his motorcycles and go fishing. :)
One interesting thing about both of us is that we are veterans. Becky was in the Navy while Ben was in the Army. We met while Ben was still in the Army and have gone through two deployments: one while we were dating and another after we were married. Thankfully, we are both done with our commitments now so we won't have to face another separation in the future!
